چکیده

This paper aims to recognize and extract deformed Asterias amurensis through the use of the concave and convex feature points, central moment, and short lines and long lines. Another purpose of this paper is to restore Asterias amurensis using the radial symmetry. Marked by the characteristics that include pentaradiality and the ability to vary in outward shapes according to circumstances, Asterias amurensis is hard to recognize. With this in mind, this paper propose a simple method for improve rates of recognition of starfish.

The Restoration Technique for Recognition of Asterias Amurensis

Asterias amurensis, also referred to as the Northern Pacific seastar, is so indiscriminate a predator that it deserves to be called pirates of the sea. They usually eat fish and shellfish including abalones and clams. Due to the high fertility rate, Asterias amurensis is one of the main culprits in devastating fishing grounds. Starfish are anywhere in the East Sea and South Sea. In recent years...

Immune Enhancement Effect of Asterias amurensis Fatty Acids through NF-κB and MAPK Pathways on RAW 264.7 Cells.

Asterias amurensis is a marine organism that causes damage to the fishing industry worldwide; however, it has been considered a promising source of functional components. The present study aimed to investigate the immune-enhancing effects of fatty acids from three organs of A. amurensis on murine macrophages (RAW 264.7 cells). A. amurensis fatty acids boosted production of immune-associated fac...

Acrosome reaction is subfamily specific in sea star fertilization.

In the fertilization process of sea stars, sperm is activated to go through the acrosome reaction before cell fusion. We focused on induction of the acrosome reaction as a key process in fertilization. Six species of sea stars were used in this study: Asterias amurensis, Asterias rubens, Asterias forbesi, Aphelasterias japonica, Distolasterias nipon, and Asterina pectinifera. Acrosome reaction ...

Size Selectivity and Energy Maximisation of the Introduced Seastar, Aster/as Amurens/s (lotken), in Tasmania, Australia

The selectivity of the introduced north Pacific seastar, Asterias amurensis, for different sizes of prey was investigated with the aim of predicting the impact this species will have on the age structure ofnative prey species and, thus, on their survival. The energy maximisation capabilities ofA. amurensis were assessed. The time small A. amurensis (r= 56-77 mm) spent handling the mussel Mytilu...

Conserved sequences of sperm-activating peptide and its receptor throughout evolution, despite speciation in the sea star Asterias amurensis and closely related species.

The asteroidal sperm-activating peptides (asterosaps) from the egg jelly bind to their sperm receptor, a membrane-bound guanylate cyclase, on the tail to activate sperm in sea stars. Asterosaps are produced as single peptides and then cleaved into shorter peptides. Sperm activation is followed by the acrosome reaction, which is subfamily specific. In order to investigate the molecular details o...
